Sometimes fear motivates me. For several years we planned on vacation trips that involved us needing to be in shape. Planned to hike down the Grand Canyon. It is I think 6,000 ft down. I did it 30 years ago and knew how hard it would be. It motivated me to walk up and down a 300 ft hill near me over and over for a year. When we planned to go to France it motivated me to study 5 hours a day. Now I'm motivated to loose weight by remembering how much better I feel when I've gotten down 30 lbs

I get motivated by chocolate. That's it really.

Yeah, having something to look forward to is definitely a great motivator.

I personally become more motivated if I listen to positive uplifting music - it’s something very subjective but when I’m at home and not working I will (almost) always have some music in the background. My favorites are online radio stations with 80-90s pop music :)

A sweet and cold scoop of ice cream is all I want to boost my motivation!D

If the task is not its own motivation, then it may be a necessary task but it is unlikely to motivate. What one is passionate about is self motivating. However, if you can think of reasons why an unpalatable task may actually beneficial (if not now, then in future), then that can be motivating.
