In addition to the dictionaries recommended below, <em>DWDS </em>is worth falling back on. It's my last resort when the word I'm looking up still ambiguous after looking it up in all other dictionaries. That's because it shows countless example sentences from known newspapers like Die Zeit etc. and the interface is also very user-friendly.
