Como em todos os países que tiveram colonias, como no caso de Portugal existem diferenças entre o "standard" e o "colloquial" mas continuam a ser a mesma língua e como é obvio conseguimos falar uns com os outros. Há diferenças no vocabulário, na conjugação verbal, na construção da frase, etc.

Resumindo a língua "colloquial" tende em ser mais simplificada do que da "Standard" creio que em todas as línguas, parece que tem preguiça.

Google use brazilian portuguese because Brazil has more portuguese speaker compare with other countries that speak portuguese, and most foreigner learn brazilian portuguese.

Don't expect good Portuguese from a google translation. It may help you have an idea of a text in another language, but it is seldom correct, natural Portuguese.

If you use https://translate.google.pt you get a European Portuguese voice.

As Murillo said, there are lots of differences in pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary.

I'm just starting to learn Portuguese myself, but it seems like the biggest difference is the use of tu vs você. I believe Portugal uses both whereas Brazil only uses você.
