I personally think language exchange is a great thing to do because it's free, or rather cost time and not money. You teach someone Mandarin, they teach you English. However, you will first have to find such a person on the Community -> Language Partners.

You can also have informal tutoring in English or professional English lessons. I'm offering both, but, in your case, it may be better to find someone who speaks Mandarin or is a native English speaker. See for yourself. I'm sure you will find a teacher who suits your needs, and lessons here on italki are way cheaper than in any language school.
