Chapter II

An Orange Socks.

The rays of the Sun woke a little Seraphim. He looked like they were playing on the wall a bit and yawning to begin to get up. Pleasant smell of fried eggs spread through the house. And this morning Seraphim decided not to put on and ran in his pajamas to the kitchen. ‘Good morning mom!’ cried Seraphim. Mother kissed his hair looked like the hair of a little lion. ‘Why don’t you put on your slippers?’ asked mother. ‘Let me think’ said Seraphim sniffing. ‘Where can I hide them?’ he said to himself. He liked hiding favorite things, but he often forgot where this secret place was. And he didn’t say a word to walk slowly to his room.

No sooner had he entered the room then he remembered, that he put the slippers on the window sill to wake up, they could look out the window and don’t miss him. But there were no slippers. Instead ones were some beautiful orange fluffy socks looked like valenki without soles. Seraphim grabbed the socks and run to the kitchen. He took a step and heard that somebody sneezed behind him. He turned, but no one was in his room. Seraphim only felt a light tickling and soft breeze around his body. In a second Dzhep-rif-rink  appeared in front of him.

‘How do you get it?’ asked Seraphim rather bravely. He wasn’t afraid, because he had already seen such dwarfs in books and cartoons many times. And he thought if he read and saw them, sooner or later he would meet with them  certainly. ‘When I’m touching you I become like you’ said Dzhep-rif-rink in a funny tone. ‘What are you really?’ wondered  Seraphim. ‘I’m tiny. I need to touch my mom or dad and I will be myself’ answered Dzhep-rif-rink. ‘How interesting!’ said Seraphim smiling. He was kind and sociable. And he was always glad to meet with new friends. Only now he noticed his slippers on Dzhep-rif-rink. ‘Does it mean your socks?’ Seraphim asked in a sad tone. ‘Yes. I’m sorry, I take your things without permission. I suggest that I like your slippers you like my socks. I dream to have many different slippers. But I have no!’ said Dzhep-rif-rink in a melancholy tone.  ‘I want to change my toys every day!’ said Seraphim dreamily.

 ‘Se-ra-phim!’ called  his mother.

‘When  can we meet again?’ wanted to know Seraphim. ‘I live in violets’ answered Dzhep-rif-rink. ‘Do you live in violets what there is on my window sill? But why can’t I see before?’ cried Seraphim amusedly.  Dzhep-rif-rink had no time to answer, because Seraphim’s mother came into his room. ‘You don’t still put on your slippers!’ said mother sighing. ‘But I put on the warm socks’ said Seraphim in a offended tone. ‘Let it be’ said mother seeing nothing, of course. Mother took his hand gently to go. Seraphim looked at his new friend and added in a whisper ‘My name is Seraphim’. ‘My name is  Dzhep-rif-rink’ came the shrill echo.
