Remember the Duck? - Short Story Little Johnny was visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play out in the woods. He practiced in the woods but could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged he headed back for dinner. As he was walking back, he saw grandma’s pet duck. Just out of impulse he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed it. He was shocked and grieved In panic, he hid the duck in a pile of woods only to see his sister Sally watching! Sally had seen it all but said nothing. After lunch that day grandma said, “Sally let’s wash the dishes.” But Sally said, “Grandma Johnny told me he wanted to help me in the kitchen.” Then she whispered to him “Remember the duck?” So Johnny did the dishes. Later that day grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing but grandma said, “Sorry I need Sally to help me make the supper.” Sally just smiled and said, “Well that’s fine but Johnny told me he wanted to help too.” She again whispered, “Remember the duck.” So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help. After several days Johnny grew tired of doing both his and Sally’s chores. He couldn’t stand it any longer. He came to grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck. Grandma knelt down, gave little Johnny a hug and said, “Sweetheart I know. You see I was standing at the window and saw the whole thing. But I forgave you because I love you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you.” Moral: In life whatever you have done whatever is your past…the devil keeps throwing it up in your face. You need to know that God was standing at the window and He saw it all. He is just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of you.

@Seda... I do have my own opinion about this but I was actually eager to know about my friend's opinion. I always like to explore other people's thoughts or minds... but it has to do a lot with the "Awereness" thing we were talking about, like in the story is said, if we become aware, we don't do what is wrong, only if we always aware. But then I guess this is something quite difficult to achieve to most of us mortals living here, so we might stumble our steps from time to time, consciously or unconsciously, so when that happens God says, "come to me, I will forgive you".... so yes I do believe HE will do as HIS promises say, but under 2 conditions "confess" and "regret", which must come from the heart, we might say this and that but God is able to scrutinize our hearts and know what our true feelings, regrets and sentiments are. So if we go around misbehaving, how will we at the end be able to truly confess and regret everything wrong that we've done? Besides, there should be a true conviction of being a good person in ourselves, not because we are afraid of being punished but just for the mere conviction of doing/being good.... I thing some religions do use the "fear of God" to control people, but I disagree on that approach, to act for good should come from awereness of the Self and conviction, which is a strong belief and it's deeper than fear and lasts longer.... Cheers!

it's quite right that we shouldn't do wrong and tell " I know God forgive me", but when we did wrong things, then what? can we tell that we shouldn't go near him? in this way we go more deeper in immoralities!
