If you want use "kakaru " in the your sentence I recommended to write as following
"sorede watashi wa nihongo ni torikakari masu "
It is little longer but good to know. Please check with your teacher of Japanese about it.
kakaru most nearest means dig in your language

Pls kindly understand If start with Watashi , please use same word in the sentence
also La is not commonly use japanese sound system please kindly use RA, Finally you write "kakaru" I take means start in this connection "Hajime" is right word to use. Your Japanese is good therefore keep study hard.
