Our economy

Today I'm going to talk about the goods which are produced by my region.  (mejor: The region I live in is) My region is the Northern Cordoba, and the of northern Andalucia.  The economy is due mainly to the agriculture and the cattle. (mejor: The main economies are...)

     Although the ground is poor and it don't doesn't produce a lot of grass and pastures, From the past until fifty years ago for the past fifty years people here have practiced a subsistence economy lived off the land. Our grandparents lived off the cattle and the annual production of the olive trees.  The cattle was consisted of mainly of sheeps and pigs, of the country. Then though they were the worth of this cattle was a little.

     Fifty years ago farmers were joined together and they created two cooperatives.  The first one was to market the cattle and the second one to market the oil.  The first one is now a great huge cooperative, which markets a lot of products like milk, milk shake, cheese, meat, ham, pork sausage and feed for the cattle.  The name of this cooperative is COVAP, and now this cooperative is joining to with others in Spain to market its goods to the big (unclear: companies?) surfaces and malls.  They talk say that they are selling the a third part of the milk with which is consumed in Spain.

     On the other hand, the ham of our pigs is a delicacy. delicatessen It's eaten in the whole world (mejor: it's eaten all over the world), but in the USA the sanitary controls put on by the government are very strict. Despite this, our cooperative will soon sell the hams in the United Stated.

Hi Dani:  Good job in your writing.  That is a tough passage to try and write!  Here's a couple of notes, just things to know that might help.

At the beginning of a paragraph, indent (skip) five spaces and between sentences skip two spaces (instead of one like between words)  The plural of sheep is just sheep, no 's'.  Sometimes with animals the plural is the same as the singular.  'To live off the land' = to make a living or survive.  We love Andalusian ham here in the States and can buy it at some markets!  Bien hecho y hasta luego.

I have been reading about the ham in Andalucia and I'm looking forwad to eating some. I hope you get some other suggestions!
