A Country without Butter, toilet paper… Perhaps you think this caption is a joke or a good strategy for you pay attention to this entry, nevertheless unfortunately this title represents the Venezuelan reality: The shortage. Three months ago I wrote an entry concerning this topic, well, as you can see the problem goes on and it seems that it will continue for a long time. This afternoon I went to supermarket and when I walked in the store, I could see various persons with butter in theirs hands, quickly I said to myself, wow! “There is butter” it was exciting due to the last time I saw butter was on December, that is to say, five months ago. At first the emotion to see the butter and to have it in my hands makes me feel blissful, happy, amazing, but then, when I waited to pay for, I thought, Oh my God, this is horrible, because I realized out that I saw the butter not as a simple or common butter, but rather a something valuable, something great, something difficult to find. But this is not all, when I leaved to supermarket I walked to go home while I had the butter in my hands and suddenly in the streets people say to me “Where did you find butter?” or “What luck!, you bought butter”. This really affected to me, because I felt as if I had a bag of money and not a mere butter. Such situation is unacceptable; the shortage is to the eye of people and this is one of several negative effects of economic and political problems that the country lives every day. Is unacceptable that Venezuela right now will become in imported of toilet paper in order to undermine the shortage situation. Anyway is unacceptable that Venezuela is a country without butter, toilet paper, coffee, sugar, milk and at the same time is the country which has the largest oil reservoirs worldwide. P.S: Left picture shows my basket with the butter and right picture shows a girl buying quit butther because she doesn't know when it come back again!

Here are some corrections for you, you have a fantastic 'chatty' style in your entry which is really enjoyable to read!! I didn't understand "the shortage is to the eye of people", perhaps you meant "The shortage is in the eyes of people"??

I am also truly shocked to read this!! But I hope you enjoy your butter :)

when i read your story i lived through the feeling of déjà vu, i've back in my memories of beginning of Ukraine independance. Fully empty shelves in the stores and a lot of coupons on the hands we should have bought the food with them. And I remember the moment when through the buzz radio we have known that butter was being sold in the nearest store. We all neighbors were running to this store where still all shelves were fully empty and just definite amount of butter everyone could buy for coupons. I was standing in a long turn for hours and i was so happy when i got those butter. Because there were posibility that butter could end..........
