"When drinking water, remember its source” of VietNamese The idiom reminds everyone about the gratitude people who had credits for country, village, family. Formerly, VietNamese has always lived together in a community called village. In that, each family (example: Le family, Nguyen family) has house of forefather to worship grandparents include people died. The members of the family show their respect through the anniversaries, grandparents teach the traditional values, the gratitudes and their source for descendants. House of forefather is also a place to share the responsibilities and dificulties in a family, it makes the close relationship between families. Each village has communal house is a place to get together in the important anniversaries. VietNamese also has communal anniversaries such as Hung’s King anniversary, he founded Van Lang country – now is Viet Nam. Like this, each family, village or city keep traditonal customs, remind descendants the gratitude with ancestors and love homeland. Therefore, spread over thousands of year, Viet Nam is a small country, people have a simple life, the spirit of VietNamese is close-knit wholeheartedly, build and protect our country againts all enemies. Nowaday, the life has many changes, some customs are buried in oblivion by other cultures, I belive that, “when drinking water, remember its source” spirit of VietNamese still live forever.
