Air pollution in China
Air pollution situations in China’s big cities such as Beijing, Tianjing, and Hebei province is worse and worse in recent years. People living in these areas have been forced to become accustomed to the unacceptable situation. Accompanying with the development of the social physical life, people are becoming more and more aware of their living condition, especially about their health. At certain times, air pollution in those big cities was so polluted that people could not go outside, children were not allowed outside, and some primary schools were forced to close. In those days, visibility was very limited, and citizens made a joke about the bad visibility. ”The furthest distant in the word is not that you are standing in front of me and you don’t know I am loving you, but you cannot have a sight of me.” Only when you see the heavy pollution weather for yourself, do you realize this description never exaggerated. The central government has been managing to deal with the air pollution, but the environment is easier to pollute and harder to recover. The government shut down all the coal consumption heating boilers in Beijing and replaced them with natural gas consumption boilers, for the natural gas boilers are cleaner and contributes less dust pollution. Another major plan is to limit the traffic on the roads. The harsh policy revealed three years ago. One person only can own one car, and one family having two or more driver licenses only can own two cars. If you don’t have any license-plate before the policy revealed, only can you access to the car owner by applying the license-plate lottery. The winning probability is less than 1% per two month. This policy can control the amount of vehicles in the city. Furthermore in order to limit the traffic, there is one day per week that vehicles are not allowed on the roads. I know it's a difficult task to manage the sources of air pollution and it relates to many important issues such as GDP and employment. but the authorities really need to accelerate their attempts to solve it because it is related to everyone's quality of life.
