Difference between tourism and tourist Hello, I have been reading some articles in English and I have seen for example: "tourism product" and "tourist activity" but I don't know when I have to use "tourism" or "tourist" because in Spanish both words mean the same, that is, you say "producto turístico" or "actividad turística" in Spanish, using only one word. Then, I need to know how I can differentiate both words. Could you help me please?. I hope you can understand me. My English isn't very good yet. Thanks.

A tourist is a person visiting a place, and tourism is the subject of people visiting places. e.g. 'The tourist went to Paris to take pictures.' Or 'There is a lot of tourism in Paris because it is a good place to take pictures.' I don't know if this helped or not, but this is the best I can describe it.

This should be in Answer section, but it's fine.

Tourism and tourist both means the same, to tour and travel around to places. The difference is the context. Tourism basically means everything related to well, tourism. Like activities, places, the peope, destinations; all of these come under one word, that is Tourism. Whereas tourist is basically the people that do tourism.

Like piano, and the people that plays the piano, are called pianist.
