CAE Writing Task - ESSAY "Which one is more relevant nowdays: FICTION OR HISTORY BOOKS?"

This is the writing task:

"What type of book is most important to read nowadays? Fiction /History/Science?- Write an essay discussing two of the points in your notes. You should explain which type of book you think is most important to read nowdays, giving reasons in support of your answer."

I have timed the performance of this task as if I were in the exam, so it is for sure that it won´t be perfect at all.
Please grade it and tell me if you think I would pass this part of the exam. Thanks in advance.

It cannot be denied that since the invention of the press in the 19th Centrury to the current time, the amount/number of books available in the market has been rising in a unstoppable way/astronomically. The present essay is aimed at discussing about which type of book is most important to read nowadays: fiction or history-related.

to date:  this phrase no suena bien aqui, lo entiendo, pero hay mejores modos

unstoppable way- claro entiendo pero un poco raro modo para decirlo

Judging by the latest figures, titles based on fiction such as “50 Shades of Gray” or “The Hunger Games” can be found in the best-seller section of any library or bookshop all around the world. It is undoubtedly true that due to our stressing modern life of highly-demanding timetables/schedules and early-in-the-morning traffic jams when commuting to work , fiction-based books are a fantastic way to escape and disconnect from the real world for a while. Something that nowadays is more and more necessary if you do not want to run the risk of going mad.

By contrast, history-related books are not too appealing to a vast majority of population that finds this kind of book excessively full of facts and dates totally irrelevant for their daily lives, facts that lead these types of books to be devoted and published for a very reduced academic circles of experts.

interesante: dices this kind of books--debe ser this kind of book.  no es correcto: kind (singular) no va bien con books (plural)

luego, dices these types of books. types(plural) = books (plural) correcto!

realmente, prefiero usar el plural para los dos: these kinds of books, these types of books, es tu eleccion, significan lo mismo.  Puedes optar decir tambien: this type of book o this kind of book.

Pero guarda la singular con el singular, y el plural con el plural

In view of the above arguments, anybody might think that I have chosen fiction as the most relevant books to be read nowadays but on the contrary and perhaps surprisingly I firmly believe that history-related books are key to current readings since despite the fact that they can be considered boring by a majority I consider that any illiterate society illiterate with regards its own history is condemned to repeat it.

<em>la ultima oracion es muy interesante. el lugar del adjectivo cambia el sentido. Si antes de "society" quieres decir que toda la sociedad no puede leer. Si despues, quieres decir que aunque la socieded es moderna y puede leer, ella no sabe nada de su historia. En este caso, ponga la palabra despues de "society" .</em>
