CAE Writing Task - REVIEW - VENICE: A place I will never forget" This is the writing task: "We are compling a list of the most memorable places in the world. Send us a review of a place that has stayed in your memory. Why should we put it on our list? " -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Placed in the northeast of Italy and declared by UNESCO heritage of humanity, Venice is a little seaside city that will make you fall in love with it at first sight. It is the very first time you set foot in Venice that you realize the magnificence of such a beautiful place so that, on no account should you die without visiting it once in your lifetime at least. Apart from Piazzale Rome, the only place where the traffic of cars is allowed, the rest of the city is an intricate labyrinth of canals and bridges as well as narrow streets, pedestrian most of them due to its singular and unique placement. Yet, contrary to what might be expected the circulation across the city is quite easy thanks to a peculiar means of transport called Vaporetto, the equivalent to the Subway in New York or the Tube in London but on water. In no way should you miss out visiting emblematic and imposing buildings such as the Basilica di San Marco, the Rialto Bridge or the Palazzo Ducal not only during the day but also and especially in the evening. The combination of water and nightlights will provide your mind with unforgettable memories. Another thing you won´t never forget is the romantic but, it must be said, also expensive voyage through the canals of Venice in gondola. Even though Venice is amazing throughout the year no matter the season, if possible you shouldn´t overlook either its Carnivals in late winter, since they are considered to be one of the worldwide most famous tourist attractions ever. Affordable and suitable for any kind of traveler, from backpackers with reduced budgets to wealthy upper-middle class travelers looking for luxurious package holidays, Venice is beyond doubt one of the most memorable places in the world that well deserve to be on the list of places in the world you will never forget.
