Reading Reading is my one of the favorite activities. I like spend time reading a book. Last years I used to read modern American literature e.g. Stephen King, Dean Koontz but now I read Russian classical novels. At the moment I'm reading "Crime and Punishment" by F. Dostoevsky and I like it very much. I decided to start read this book because of one American guy who taught a lesson one day. We were talking about literature and he said that he read "Crime and Punishment". After his words I felt a shame because American read it but I not. At the moment I thought "I must read it". Few weeks later I celebrated my birthday and I got some presents. One of them was a gift card with opportunity buying some book. I used the opportunity and bought four classical novels. It's "Hero of our time" by M. Lermontov, "Dead Souls" by N. Gogol and "Fathers and Children" by I. Turgenev and of course "Crime and Punishment" by F. Dostoevsky. When I was a child and when I studied at secondary school I read only parts of these novels. In those times I didn't use to like this but now I can understand these novels cause I've grown up. When I'm reading I deep into an imaginary world and I imagine myself in this world. I analyze a situations and think of my decisions and actions. That's why I like reading. Even I tried to write something by myself but it's an another story...

Reading

Reading is one of my favourite things to do. I really enjoy spending time reading books. A few years, I used to mostly read modern American literature, books by authors like Stephen King, Dean Koonts and such, but now I read classic Russian novels.

At the moment, I'm in the middle of reading Crime and Punishment by F. Dostoevsky and I love it! I decided to start reading this book because of a conversation I once had with an American. We were talking about literature and he mentioned that he read Crime and Punishment. After hearing this, I felt a little ashamed of myself because I hadn't read it myself. Me, a Russian having not read one fo the most famous works of Russian literature, how embarassing!! It was at that moment that I knew I just had to read it.

A few weeks later, it was my birthday. One of the presents I received was a gift card for a book shop. I seized this opportunity to buy four classic novels - "Hero of our time" by M. Lermontov, "Dead Souls" by N. Gogol and "Fathers and Children" by I. Turgenev and, of course, "Crime and Punishment" by F. Dostoevsky. I have read bits and pieces of these books before, I had just never read them cover to cover. When I was at school we had to read parts of them, but I hated them back then as I dind't understand them. No, however, I do understand them because I've grown up, and consequently thoroughly enjoy them.

When I read, I seem to be transported into an imaginary world. It's such a wonderful feeling. I analyse the sitations that arise in the book and then use these to ponder over my own decisions and actions. That's one of my main reasons for liking reading.

I thought it'd be useful for you to see how a native speaker would write such a piece, that's why I gave you a suggestion and didn't merely correct your entry. You're writing is actually very good - it's very clear what you want to say, well structured and sounds quite natural, all of which are very important! I think that's because you read a lot - reading is really very important in learning a foreign langauge. Keep reading, and keep working hard! :)
