Ejercicio de traducción: visita a Puerto Rico.

Estoy practicando el petitorio (not sure what you mean by that) con una traducción del texto siguiente, de inglés a español.

I went to visit Puerto Rico last January. It was wonderful. A friend of mine is a travel agent, and when she offered me the opportunity to go to the Caribbean for a week of fun and sun - for very little money - I said to her, when do we go? The day that we left it snowed six inches here. When we arrived in San Juan, sun, heat and sand greeted us. We took a taxi to our hotel, I took my bathing suit out of my suitacse and we went to the beach. The next day we went to El Yunque, the rain forest, where we walked for hours and say many beautiful birds and trees. I couldn't believe it - it was so beautiful! The next day we went to Luquillo beach and swam and read and relaxed. We did this every day until - alas! - we had to return to reality.

El enero pasado, fui a Puerto Rico. Fue maravilloso. Una amiga de mía es una agente de viajes y cuando me ofreció la oportunidad de ir al Caribe a pasar una semana de diversión y sol - por muy poco dinero - le dije, ¿cuándo nos vamos? El día que salimos nevó seis pulgadas aquí. (This is perfect, but you may want to consider writing it in centimeters for cultural reasons. That would be "nevó quince centímetros aquí") Cuando llegamos a San Juan, el sol, el calor, y la arena nos saludaron. Tomamos un taxi a nuestro hotel, lo saqué mi traje de baño desde de mi maleta* y fuimos a la playa. Al día siguiente, fuimos a El Yunque, la selva tropical, donde caminamos por durante horas y vivimos vimos muchos pájaros y árboles hermosos. No puede podía creerlo, ¡era tan hermosa..! Al día siguiente fuimos a la playa Luquillo y nadamos y leemos leímos y relajado nos relajamos. Hicimos esto todos los días hasta ¡ay! necesitamos tuvimos que (have to = tener que) regresar (also "volver") a la realidad.

*Just a couple of things. "Saqué mi traje de baño de mi maleta" is totally correct but, just so you know, in Spanish we tend not to use possessives when it is implied who the possessor is. For example, an English speaker would usually say "he shook his head" or "I have to do my homework" while a Spanish speaker would normally go "sacudió la cabeza" or "tengo que hacer los deberes" (instead of "su cabeza" o "mis deberes"). But, again, it is not wrong to use the possessive. :)

The other little thing is that "traje de baño" is often replaced by "bikini" or "biquini" (both admited by the Real Academia Española, not to worry) or "bañador". The latter being used especially -but not exlusively - when referring to a one-piece. "Saqué el bañador de la maleta".

El día que salimos nevó seis pulgadas aquí. Cuando llegamos a en San Juan, el sol, el calor, y la arena nos saludaron. Tomamos un taxi hacia nuestro hotel, lo saqué mi traje de baño desde mi maleta y fuimos a la playa. Al día siguiente, fuimos a El Yunque, la selva tropical, donde caminamos por horas y vimos  vivimos muchos pájaros y árboles hermosos. No podía creer esto, puede creerlo, era tan hermoso. Al dia siguiente fuimos a la playa de Luquillo y nadamos, leímos y nos relajamos leemos y relajado. Hicimos ésto todos los días hasta hasta que ¡ay! tuvimos que Necesitamos regresar a realidad.

El día que salimos (nos fuimos) nevó seis pulgadas aquí. Cuando llegamos en a San Juan, sol, calor y arena nos saludaron. Tomamos un taxi a nuestro hotel, lo saqué mi traje de baño desde de mi maleta y fuimos a la playa. Al día siguiente, fuimos a El Yunque, la selva tropical, donde caminamos por horas y vivimos vimos muchos pájaros y árboles hermosos. No puede podía creerlo, ¡era tan hermosa!. Al dia siguiente fuimos a la playa Luquillo y nadamos, leemos leímos y relajado nos relajamos. Hicimos esto/(Repetimos esto) todos los días hasta que ¡ay! Tomabamos un taxi hacia nuestro hotel.  A llegar a la habitación, saqué mi bañador de mi maleta y fuimos a la playa. Al día siguiente, fuimos a El Yunque, la selva tropical, donde caminabamos por horas y veíamos muchos pájaros y árboles hermosos. No podía creerlo, era tan hermosa. Al dia siguiente fuimos a la playa Luquillo y nadabamos y leíamos a relajar. Continuábamos con este rutina todos los días hasta que ¡ay! necesitabamos regresar a la realidad.
