In this essay I would like to describe the character of Waddington and the reason for the cause of creation this hero in the legendary novel Painted Veil by S.Mougham. I'll start with the plot of the novel composition. Frivolous Kitty and madly in love with her Walter Fane have got married. He was intelligent bacteriologist living in Asia. The reson of her marriage was engagement of her younger sister and her mother`s resentment about futility of that very Kitty. Feins have moved to Hong Kong where exhausted suffocating climate and local customs Kitty has committed adultery to her husband with a married handsome Charles Townsend,who was the Assistant Colonial Secretary. When Walter has known about the betrayal of his beloved wife, he required: either Kitty went with him to the Chinese province, where was cholera, or he divorced with her. Kitty had told Townsand about it , who let her down after that and broken her heart. She realized that Charlie has never loved her. Kitty realized that she had no choice, and decided to accompany her husband to China. Firstly Kitty thought that she was a victim of unrequited love, but got over that and begun to get used to new place.
