little practice
Recently, I haven't spent a lot of time on improving my English like before. I just make it a rule to listen a short lecture about science and to read a couple of news everyday. In the meantime I also could get a wealth of information that could lead to thinking.
The other day I talked with a Canadian girl, she praised my accent that It sounded like I lived in California for years. To some extent, she might just tried to be polite, i was flattered but still very glad that my all efforts did not result in nothing. Hope it will not take a long time to make her comment well-deserved.

Recently, I haven't spent a lot of time on improving my English like before.(Or: "Recently, I haven't spent as much time on improving my English as before") I just make it a rule to listen to a short lecture about science and to read a couple of news articles/sites everyday. In the meantime I also could get a wealth of information that could lead to thinking. (The first "could" is unnecessary and a little unnatural. Usually it is not the case that from doing something like reading the news, you may or may or not get a lot of something like a wealth of information. So it sounds a little strange with "could". Also instead of the last part, you could say "that could be thought-provoking." or "that could inspire me to think")The other day I talked with a Canadian girl, she praised my accent and said that It sounded like I had lived in California for years. To some extent, she might just have tried to be polite, I was flattered but still very glad that my all my efforts did not result in nothing.(Or: "she might just have been trying to be polite" "but" is okay, but very slightly strange since potentially flattery and seeing your efforts rewarded are both good things and not to be contrasted with but, instead joined with "and". "all of my efforts" They are your efforts, and its all of them.) Hope it will not take a long time to make it well-deserved. (Remember that dropping the "I" subject is usually not okay in written things. You might also want to say "I hope it will not take a long time to make her comment/compliment well-deserved." Otherwise, its a little ambiguous whether "it" refers to her compliment or your efforts.)
