Freund boyfriend/girlfriend or friends?
I never understood how Germans make the difference between boyfriend/girlfriend and just friend, because both are freund. Can anyoneexplain me?

We usually get from the context if someone is talking about their boyfriend/girlfriend or just a friend.
Also we'd rather say "mein Freund" ("my friend") for boyfriend and "ein Freund" ("a friend") for a friend. Usually this makes sense as most people have more than one friend and wouldn't use "mein Freund" for friends anyway (as this would sound like they only have one, like "my dad").
