I hope you don't mind me telling you this, but I don't see 'because to have lost...' I know what you mean but I don't think that's correct. I am a native English speaker, and I don’t know this expression. Maybe it is more popular in another country or among a different generation? In any case, I would just use the phrasal verb “give up”.
