Hello teachers, writers, and bookworms.
You know that there would be a cultural impact to hit you more or less when you were engaged in a language studying. Currently, English is one of my target language and I find poetry a bit interesting. Because I love literature such as Chinese poetry and guess as well as English literature. However, there is a lot more difference between them. The beauty of Chinese poetry is, using fairly short sentences made up of simple and common characters to tell some things like feelings, sights or even philosophy. Here is a piece of ancient Chinese poetry I wanna share with you guys and hope anyone else can make it an English version.
衣不如新 人不如故 That means “a new dress is better than an old one while a buddy felt more closed than a new friend/partner.”
By the way, do you agree with that, when you get a new friend or partner and spend time together, at some points you can’t help comparing them with your old friend or ex who in a longer relationship? And think the latter is better.

What kind of Chinese poetry? 唐诗?
What kind of English poetry? "Humpty-Dumpty" or "My heart's in the Highlands"?

I’ve always thought of Chinese poetry more like a proverb, where it’s short and gives meaning and makes you think. On the other hand, English poetry is all about feeling and rhythm. It’s more descriptive and can be really long, but it still gives the person something to think about as well
