I myself don't believe in the principle of the Zodiac - either in Western or Eastern culture. Our fate's simply aren't determined by the position of the starts at a particular time. I do have a type of faith in the starts of the Zodiac, in that I feel quite sure that tomorrow night, they will occupy pretty much the same positions in the sky in relation to each other that they occupied last night.

I think it's fun to think about. I actually spent a few hours reading about the Chinese Zodiac (as it's called here) today and found out that I'm an Earth Snake. I like reading about what different zodiacs, etc. say about my personality and those of my friends, but I don't take it too seriously. The Chinese Zodiac has been more accurate than the Western to me.

There are different 'house' systems apparently, but whichever system you use, understand that the signs were drawn up a long time ago; the sun no longer rises in the appropriate signs as they have moved. Michel Gauquelin did some very interesting research into correlations between date of birth and profession. As for me? No, I think it is rubbish.
