What does 「世にも奇妙な物語」の「奇数」 try to express?
I like the 「世にも奇妙な物語」 show, but there the story 「奇数」 which I don't get it at all...
What does this story try to express? I've totally no idea what the point is.
Is there something culture-specific?
And could you answer the question in English please.
Thanks!I'm not asking the meaning for 奇数 or 奇妙.
世にも奇妙な物語 is a movie series.
And there's a story in this series, which named 奇数。
Here's the video: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTQ3NTM5ODA=.html
The length of it is about 12 minutes.
I don't get the clou.
So... Can anyone tell me what actually does the story try to express.
Why the leading role is soooo scared in the story?
I want to know the clou of the story.
Thanks!

奇妙 is different from 奇数
奇数 means odd numbers.
奇妙(kimyou) means strange or unusual.
but if you look it up in a dictionary, you'll find many meaning, such as bizarre, odd..
Although all of them seems to be similar.
In short, the tales of strange world.

Andrea-san, I enjoyed watching 「世にも奇妙な物語」 TV series as a child. It was extremely popular in early 1990s. Then they made movie, TV special etc., too. For me, it's kinda impressive that foreigners "excavate" such an old program and enjoys it. hehe:)
It's true that some episodes of 世にも奇妙な物語 are difficult to understand even for Japanese. Also, you have to note that there is no "right" answer when you interpret stories.
In my best interpretation, the title 奇数 means something is going "odd" about numbers in this episode. There are mainly two reasons that makes the leading character (and the audience) feel scared.
- There is some strict rule in the bus. Everyone but him knows it and is following it. The rule must be executed no matter what.
-What will happen to him, who broke the rule and left alone in the bus without driver? (The outcome is left for your imagination. )
That's my best answer. Hope someone might bring up some different interpretation^^
