My Name is (Spanish)
How do I know when to use 'Mi Nombre' or 'Mi llamo'?
Are they the same phrase?

You can use both of them in the same way, "Me llamo John" is literaly "I call me John" but the correct translation is "My name is John". On the other hand, "Mi nombre es John" is literaly "My name is John", and is totally correct to use it like "Me llamo". You have to notice one thing: you have to write "Me llamo" because "Mi llamo" doesn't exist.

they are different phrases because their meanings are different but you can use both in the same situations. "Mi nombre" means "my name" and "mi llamo" means "I am ____(your name) and is something literally like "I am called ____".

significa lo mismo,
si te preguntan
cual es tu nombre? respondes: mi nombre es ......
si te preguntan
como te llamas? respondes: me llamo.....
podriamos decir que la primera forma es mas formal que la sengunda.
