"on" is followed by raging from monday to sunday things.
Ex. I wake up on monday
But Mike used "about" so I can't get it.

I will call you on Wednesday night=  refers to the night  that he will call
I will call you about Wednesday night = He will call to discuss what will happen on Wednesday night.

Mike means that he will call you to talk about what you will do on Wednesday night. So he might call you on Monday, or Tuesday, or Wednesday... but when he calls you, he will talk about what's going on Wednesday night!

It's also possible to say "I'll call you about Wednesday" to mean "I'll call you sometime during the middle of the week", but I think that in the example, "Wednesday night" is too specific to mean an approximate time. "About Wednesday night" can only mean "regarding Wednesday night".
