Question

Over 11 million units shipped life to date (since 2003).
It refers to DVD. Does it mean that over 11 million DVDs have been sold since 2003?

Answer

"life-to-date" (sometimes expressed rarely as LTD) is used to mean the time from when a product first came out to the present.
In this case you are correct - since 2003, which is when I assume this DVD first came out.

Note: Usually, LTD stands for 'limited' and it is used for companies, meaning limited liability.

Answer

I think your correct, the word "life" in this context most likely means only since 2003 until the present time.
