1. Saímos às onze da noite e chegamos às sete da manhã
2. Eu tenho medo de voar. Tive uma experiência traumática.

They are very good and grammaticaly correct, but they are closer to written language, mainly if we talk about Brazilian Portuguese. I couldn't say there is 'an easier way to convey' but there is an oral way to say these.
