Meaning of "matanaw --> natatanaw" in this context Hello, simple question, could anyone tell me the meaning of natatanaw in this context (biblical): At nayari ang langit at ang lupa, at ang lahat na natatanaw sa mga iyon. Salamat nang maaga.

"tanaw" means "to view", so matanaw is the infinitive form and natatanaw would mean "is visible/being viewed".

And ooooops! Matanaw is different. It can either mean to view or has been viewed at the same time. It all depends on how you deliver the sentence. In the phrase "Nang matanaw ni Juan ang langit" (When John saw the sky), matanaw is used as a past tense. While in the sentence "Lumapit ka rito at ng iyong matanaw ang kalangitan" (Come over here so you can see the sky), matanaw is use differently. The bottomline is, it varies from the way you deliver it. Anyway, there's no much difference in matanaw and natanaw. It is exactly the same (except the first letter of course)!

Natatanaw is in present tense while Matatanaw is in future. Natatanaw simply means that you're currently viewing something while matatanaw means you're about to see something. Hope that helps.

Hello! I was wondering if you could be my conversation partner. I am looking for english speakers who I can speak or chat with so that I can practice and improve my English. I am a filipino so I can help you with your study of the language in return. Looking forward to meeting you ;)
