How do you say the farewell 'gods guide you' in Icelandic?
I suppose that 'gods guide you' is a slang for 'let the gods guide you', 'may the gods guide you', or something similar, to give context. Typically said as a farewell.

My guess would be something like „guðir leiða þig“, but I haven't gotten far enough into my studies to say that is grammatically sound, especially given the context of the original English phrase.

Megi guðirnir leiða þig.

Is grammatically sound I think barring any obscure rule. But að leiða is more often thought of as to have hold someones hand. Most often a parent 'leiðir' it's child. If it's used in the 'leading' one would expect to have the destination attached.

Megi guðirnir leiða þig til Valhallar.

The meaning is understood in the shorter version and I'd prefer it over the long one. But still a bit off, at least in modern icelandic.
