The failed immaculate conception
These are the titles of three prints by Ernst:
‘‘The failed immaculate conception,’’ ‘‘The same for the second . . . ,’’ and ‘‘. . . and the third time failed.’’
does "failed" here mean "fake"? does any one have any information about the context of these prints?
