오랜만이다
I learn korean through English, which is not my mother tongue. At times it gets confusing.
오랜만이다
I see this translated to "long time no see".
So I'm wondering: Does it only refer to physical meetings, or can it be used as a more general "it's been a long time (since we talked/since we met/since our last email)"?
Sorry if this question has been asked already.
I browsed through recent questions, but couldn't find the search function.

Yes, you can use 오랜만이다 in general situations like when you meet someone in person, talk on the phone, and write email.
For instance, 우리 전화한 지 오랜만이다, which means it's been a while since we talked last time. 우리 마지막으로 이메일한 지 오랜만이다 means it's been a while since we last emailed. 오랜만이다 works just by itself over the phone or in email because the other person will be aware of the situation.

You know correctly. What you know is the answer.
'long time no see.' and 'It's been a long time.'
