what do you think the whole form of"I'd"in here? if it is "i would",then i think the sentence is a little strange.

It would be OK to say 'When I first got here, I would get depressed.'
The contracted form is preferable because it fits with the informal expression 'I got here', but the full form isn't incorrect.
