I understand that 雨 means candy as well as rain, but how do you use it in a sentence?

雨 means rain, and not candy. On the other hand, 飴 means candy ( but usually, we say あめ あめ玉 including hiragana. Every Kanji has it's own meaning. It's only when one writes in in Hiragana that one can get confused since the Hiragana is the same.
Nowadays, we also use キャンディー as in Candy imported from the west.
このキャンディーはとても美味しいよ!!
このあめ玉はコーラの味がする。
