French spoken in Côte d’Ivoire Hello everyone! I am wondering if the French spoken in Côte d’Ivoire is the same as the one spoken in France. Are there any differences in the language itself? Like American English vs British..

I would say that the main difference is idioms. There are a lot of metaphorical idioms in Ivory Coast that French people wouldn't understand. As for the grammar, it's supposedly the same, apart from a few local phrases. They might also use some words taken from local dialects sometimes. You might want to know that all the Ivorians I met studied in the French schools (teachers are mainly from France), so some Ivorian might speak a French that is more different to French French than what I've encountered...
