What is "Flat Clinch technology" in a stapler? What does "flat clinch" mean? ---------------------------------------------------------------update---------------------------------------------------------------- The description from Wikipedia: "Some modern desktop staplers make use of Flat Clinch technology. With Flat Clinch staplers, the staple legs first pierce the paper and are then bent over and pressed absolutely flat against the paper – doing away with the two-setting anvil commonly used and making use of a recessed stapling base in which the legs are folded. Accordingly, staples do not have sharper edges exposed and lead to flatter stacking of paper – saving on filing and binder space."

Hah - I never thought that I would see this term used again in my life! It's when the stapler presses the edges of a staple "flat", as opposed to "curved inwards". Does that make sense? Maybe look up a photo...

This is not an everyday expression. I have never heard it before. Staplers insert a metal staple into paper to hold them tight (clinch?) and then press the staple flat. So it could be a fancy way to describe the normal mechanism of a stapler. Or it could refer to the technology used for a particular stapling technique. Do you have any more information about it?
