Is this an adverb?
"It's because you sleep late"
is late an adverb? why? I don't understand. What makes it an adverb, and why can't i say lately?

"late" is adverb because it modifies the verb "sleep". You can't use "lately" because the meaning is different. The word "lately" means "recently" which doesn't make sense in this sentence.
