Hi! I'm a community teacher and I can cover both those things, speaking/pronunciation, and grammar. I also speak Russian if that helps :) But to answer your question, it really depends on the teacher. Some community teachers will only offer speaking practice, but some will also offer grammar as well, so you will just have to look on individual teacher pages. Good luck with your English learning!

Olga, I'm not a teacher or tutor. My experience on italki over these years.... Professional teachers have teaching degrees or experience in teaching a foreign/ second language. Community tutors are usually people who have experience in teaching a language, but may not have degrees.BUT, that's it. I have studied Korean with both professional teachers and community tutors and both have been great. I find speaking practice better with community tutors, since it's cheaper and they can help you with your problems. I find professional teachers are more structured, are really good for learning grammar and learning in general. I would just take trial lessons with both. You can send messages to the teachers/ tutors and tell them you want help with grammar and new words, and your goal is to speak and have conversations in English. Ask them how they run their class. If you like their response, take a trial. I hope this helps :)

Hello Olga, The main difference between Community Tutors and Professional Teachers is that Professional Teachers have to give proof of their teaching qualifications/background to italki. As in any market you need to decide which is best for you. There are some very good tutors on the site and probably some average teachers (Hopefully very few!) I would suggest looking through the profiles of teachers and tutors, see which ones are likely to be the best match for your needs and then have a trial lesson with them. (Max 3 trial lessons!) Make a note of any questions you want to ask before the lesson so you don't forget. Many teachers/tutors will probably ask you to talk about yourself to settle you and to give them some idea of your level. Best wishes Bob

I think it depends on whether you actually want formal lessons on grammar or whether you would prefer to practice speaking and then deal with any problems with grammar as they occur. I think most Community Tutors deal with things the second way. The biggest difference between the two is that most Community Tutors don't have time to plan highly structured lessons. The Professional Teachers are usually more expensive and what you are paying extra for is not necessarily greater teaching ability (because there are quite a few Community Tutors with teaching qualifications and experience) but rather for the extra time that they have to actively plan each lesson.
