Tutor della CommunityGaeilge: To be jealous that...
In American English we can say stuff like "I am jealous that he got to go to the beach today." and "I'm jealous that he got a new car." Can "éad a bheith ort" be used like this? That is, can you follow it with "go/gur" + a sentence? If not, I wonder if it has to be reworded as "I am jealous of him because he got a new car." So "Tá éad orm gur fháil sé carr nua." vs "Tá éad orm leis toisc gur fháil sé carr nua."

I think I wouldn't follow "tá éad orm" with a "go" clause, instead it would be better to use a conjunction like "toisc" or "mar gheall": "Tá éad orm (leis) toisc go bhfuair sé carr nua"; you could leave out the "leis", but I think it sounds better if you keep it.
