Eating in / Eating out
Hello everyone!
Today I used the following phrase in a conversation (I remember it from my phrasal verb textbook):
"I used to eat out a lot but now I'm reduced to eating in"
but I was told that nobody says it this way. How can I say it correctly then? "I used to eat at cafes a lot but now I'm reduced to eating at home"? Does it sound fine?
Thanks in advance!

I don't see a problem with your original sentence.
"Eating out" is a very common expression, and "eating in" is the opposite.

You can say 'scale down': "I used to eat out a lot but I've scaled down and eat more at home now."
