How to say for example
1. Chinese people are known for being smart.
2. Thai food are known for being delicious.
3. Thai people are known to be friendly.
4. Australia is famous for kangaroo.

you can say :以....闻名 eg.澳大利亚以袋鼠闻名.
but for me , i prefer to translate in a more simple way. for example 泰国的食物很好吃。澳大利亚的袋鼠很著名。中国人很聪明。泰国人很友好。that's it and more natural

famous/known for something, you can say "以 something 闻名" in chinese
take your sentence for an example, "Thai people are known to be friendly." In Chinese, you can say, "泰国人以友好闻名".

Known for something can translate into 众所周知。For example, 众所周知,中国人很聪明
famous for something can translate into 因为。。出名
