"Noun" are the words to use to refer to objects. There are 2 types of nouns ie "Proper Nouns" and "Common Nouns".
-Proper noun - refer to the particular persons, places or things (eg. Japan, Emily, BMW)
-Common noun- refer to any of a class or group of a persons or things (eg: pencil, book, car)
"Name" means a specific word or title by which a persons, things, places, etc is known.

This might help a little...
Noun - *generally* describes what things are called, for example: boy, girl, car, tree.
Name - *specifically* describes what things are called, for example: Peter, Mary, Rolls-Royce, Oak.
"A name is always a noun, but not all nouns are names"
Hahaha.
Good luck

Hello Parwiz2 sorry 1,
Name is a language unit by which a person or thing is known:
What is his name ?
His name is Parwiz
What is the name of the company he works for ?
'Name' could have other meanings like reputation, but it is irrelevant in comparing 'name' with 'noun'.
'Noun' is the content word that can refer to a person ,place ,thing ,quality or action, thus it refers to the subject or object of the verb.
You might ask "But name also refers to persons and things?".
The difference is that 'noun' is the grammatical classification of the word unit .
For example :
The boy plays guitar.
"boy" and " guitar" here are nouns representing the subject and object in the sentence.
You can't say " what is his noun "? only " what is his name?" .
" Parwiz studies English"
Parwiz here is your 'name' and it is at the same time a' noun' in this sentence representing the subject of the verb "study" .'English' is a 'noun' as well representing the object .
The diversity in nature is amazing.
"Diversity" here is a 'noun' and the subject of the sentence . It refers to a quality but it isn't a 'name'.
I hope the difference is clear :)
