본업 이라는 단어가 무슨 말인가요? What is the meaning of 본업?
'업'은 한자로 'Work' 이라는 의미를 벌써 알고 있지만 '본' 이라는 처음 부분을 이해가 안 와요
저한테 '본'을 무슨 말이고 둘다 합친 데에 의미가 뭐인지 설명해주실 수 있는 사람이 있으면 감사하겠어요

본업(本業) : 주가 되는 직업. main business, regular work
본(本) means "root, basis"
e.g.
본래, 근본
업(業) means "work"
e.g.
업무, 업종

본 means Origin and 업 means Job. So when you have multiple jobs, someone can ask you "본업이 뭐예요?" meaning what's your original or main job?

본은 本 이라는 한자입니다. '원래', '근본'이라는 뜻이에요. 본업은 직업이나 하는 일이 두 개 이상인 사람이 원래 하는 일을 이야기해요. 예) 배우도 하고 있지만 본업은 가수에요.
