I see both at a restaurant and in a restaurant.
Would you like to tell me the difference?

In my experience, there is no real difference between the two phrases. I think “at a restaurant” is a bit more common and would imply eating/drinking at the restaurant; while “in a restaurant” might just mean physically being in a place.
