The difference between has been..., and have been? Hi everyone, I have a question about the past in english: What is the difference between the structures has been spoken and have been speak?

You could say "this affair/situation has been spoken of before", or 'this matter has been talked about before/earlier'. We need the word "of", (it has been spoken OF) because we were speaking about something. You were speaking to someone, but you spoke about (or spoke of) some thing. "have been speak" is not correct English. If you speak about many things, i.e. plural, then you can say, "We have spoken of these things before", "We spoke about this topic/matter (these topics, these matters) months ago. We have already spoken about these things, so no need to talk/speak about them again. The difference between 'has been' and 'have been' is about which person. I have spoken; you have spoken; he/she has spoken; we have spoken, you (plural) have spoken, and they have spoken. You can also use the other form of the past: I spoke, you spoke, he/she spoke; we spoke, you (plural) spoke; they spoke. Eg. I spoke about this topic yesterday. She spoke to the manager this morning, etc.

I think, 1. have been speaking 2. had been spoken
