what's the difference between " for one's sake" and "because of"

i came back because of you
when to use these?

For your sake means for your benefit whereas I came back because of you doesn’t mean for your benefit. It implies that it is for the speaker’s benefit.
Ex: I came back for your sake. (I came back because I knew you’d be alone all evening and I know you don’t like to be alone.)
I came back because of you. (Because of my great love for you.)
