I would say either adjective is ok, and that they are very similar in meaning.

Yes, that sentence is correct, and scent is a synonym of fragrance, so you can use one or the other.
But I will suggest using Fragrance better, since it refers to a pleasant smell and Scent is just a distinctive smell.
