"The cat was scared from the sound" Is the sound subject here?
I thought only "by" could be used to introduce subjects of passive sentences

"The cat was scared from the sound." << regional or vernacular version of "by the sound"

Sound would be the subject, although "from" doesn't seem right - normally "by".
