“check” or “check out” – which is correct in the following context? Hi friends, “check” or “check out” – which is correct in the following context? 1) Please check the two lottery tickets which I bought yesterday. 2) Please check out the two lottery tickets which I bought yesterday. Thanks in advance, Niwantha

I would say both is ok.. but 1) is more common and preferable in this context. I would say this because check out is usually referring to something new and regards to someone that hasn't seen it before. Check would refer to something where you want someone to have a look and see if (in this case) the ticket is ok or there is a problem. Hope this helps!

It depends on what message you want to convey. If you are just giving surprising news to your friend showing him/her your lottery tickets, then "check out" is used. But if, for example, you are looking at the results of the lottery and the winning numbers and want to see uf you have won or not, then you might tell another person to "check" the tickets you bought yesterday.
