Is "longer" in the following sentence an adjective or an adverb?
She wants to stay with her parents for a little longer.

She wants to stay longer.
stay - verb
longer - modifies "stay" ==> adverb
She wants her stay to be longer. - adjective.
Why? Does it matter? The meaning is clear.
