I would say that your punctuation is correct - this is why: In 1 the ";" tells the reader that the next part of the sentence (the words) has something to do with, or is saying something more about, the previous part of the sentence - he likes berries in general but the particular berries mentioned are the ones he likes that are part of this category of fruits. In 2 the "-" is also telling the reader that the second part of the sentence is describing the first part of the sentence - that all the items of furniture listed must be brown.
